Peter Tracy: Meet the Troubadours

Peter Tracy - songwriter, lead guitar, harmonica

Peter lives in Northern California and works for the County of Sonoma with the mentally ill. He has an M.A. in counseling and has been working with the mentally ill for about 25 years. He started working at Sonoma County about 5 years ago, and is currently seeing the distruction of "mental health" as we know it. (thanks for the tax cuts, republicans)

Peter has been playing guitar all his life, but only started writing songs a couple of years ago on a Veterans for Peace bus trip to Boston for the Democratic . He is a Vietnam Vet and an active member of Veterans for Peace. He is married and has two sons, neither one of which has any intention of joining the military. Both would leave the country if drafted.

MUSIC- C.D.s and groups.....
Peter's first c.d. is called "Speak Out" It contains mostly original songs, but also has 5 from other songwriters. His second album, "Eat the Rich", contains all original material of biting (some might say strident) political songs. This is definately a better sound, and it has more of the harmonies you hear from the Troubadours. It also has quite a bit of Mike Drayton's fiddle. The third C.D. is called Peter Tracy and the Left Coast Troubadours. All of this music may be downloaded or played on air for free. It is not suitable for small children, evangecals or right wing Republicans.

Peter also plays with the Splinter Group with Fredi Bloom, Gail Caulfield and Linda Marantz. They’ve been singing together for the past 20-odd years and are in the process of finishing up a c.d.
Peter also plays guitar with singer/ songwriter David Woeller. Together they have made 3 C.D.s of David's music. David is 78 and still putting it out there.
Peter also plays and sings with Noah Hammond and they just came out with a C.D. of mostly cover tunes called "Out of the Livingroom".
Both David and Noah do house concerts with Peter. David's number is 707-5768630 and Noah's is 415-4549339
Peter also plays electric guitar with the rock and roll/blues band Wasabai. They are available for gigs and play often around Sonoma County. For gigs contact Bill Simon at 707-5428997. (Bill is another active Veterin for Peace.)
Peter also plays and sings with an accousic group called "As The Crow Flies". Allison, Brian and David and Peter are regulars at "Coffe Cats" in Sebastopol on Wednsday nights. For gigs call David Lerner at 707-5269108. David and Brian each have their own C.D.s out, and have been playing pretty much forever.

David Lerner - backup guitar and banjo

David works in mental health with Peter. In addition he is a, musician, writer and meditator who lives in Santa Rosa, CA. He grew up in and around Baltimore, Maryland ad moved to the Left Coast in 1978. His self-published CD, "When Coyotes Pass Through Fences," was released iln 2001. He is on backup vocal on "Eat the Rich" and plays guitar, baritone guitar and banjo. He is a regular fixture at Coffee Catz open mic in Seastopol every Wednesday night.

Michael Drayton - fiddle

Mike Drayton has been playing fiddle for about 35 years. He currently is in the ban The Roadoilers and is on their recently released CD, "It Seems Fast to Us." His fiddling
mentor was Pearl Sivetts, of Putnam County, Missouri, from whom he learned
many tunes along with his much of his approach to interpreting music.
While Mike's primary musical interest remains traditional string band
music, he finds that Peter's songs are a good way to give musical
expression to his own progressive politics, a dimension lacking in the
dance tunes and old-time songs he otherwise plays. Mike enjoys bringing
his country sound to the Troubadours' mix.

Nicholas Ford Callaway - artwork

Nick is a Troubadour in every sense of the word. He has traveled the world in search of adventure, knowledge and love; and has found all three. He is an accomplished percussionist, having studied in Sonoma county and last year in Cairo. He has most recently turned his talents to designing original work for artists. Some people may remember him as a member of the group The Reliables many years ago. http://www.myspace.com/thereliablesthebetterone
