I Want a President: Just daydreaming about qualities a president should have—supporting the constitution, belief in science, a dislike for torture—you know—stuff like that

I want a president who believes in evolution
I want a president who believes in democracy
I want a president who respects the constitution
I want a president who speaks the English language fluently

I want a president who believes in science
who funds stem cell research and supports ecology
I want a president to help reduce global warming
and wants to stop using oil as our main source of energy

I want a president who is patriotic
who would never sacrifice our children needlessly
I want a president who is not psychotic
who doesn’t live in a faith based reality

I want a president that is an intellectual,
curious about the world and reads the paper every day
who thinks that people have more rights than corporations
who would defend your rights be you woman, black or brown or gay

I want a president that wants to rid the world of nuclear weapons
I want a president who thinks it’s wrong to start a war
and who respects—the Geneva Convention
I want a president who won’t condone torture anymore

I want a president who believes in evolution
I want a president who likes democracy
I want a president who supports the constitution
I want a president who’s more intelligent than me.
